Version 2026-09-25. For case managers and reentry coordinators who use the Steady Ground portal. [OWNER TO CONFIRM: lawyer review]
Draft. Words in [square brackets] are decisions the SidexSide owner still has to make. This page is not legal advice.
Case managers and reentry coordinators accept this before they can ask for access. If you are a member, this is what every case team has agreed to.
I agree that
Sharing is the person’s choice. I see only what they choose to share, and only while they share it. They can stop at any time without telling me.
I will never require or pressure anyone. I won’t require, pressure or reward anyone to share, to share more, to keep sharing, or to use SidexSide at all. Sharing, or not sharing, will never be a condition of services, housing, a program, a recommendation, or anything I report.
I will never ask to see inside the app. I won’t ask anyone to open SidexSide in front of me or hand me their phone. I won’t ask to see their messages, journal or profile. I won’t ask for their password or recovery code.
I will never ask SidexSide for more than a person shares. SidexSide won’t give it. It can’t read messages or journals, and it doesn’t answer case teams’ requests about members. Legal process from my agency is handled under SidexSide’s data requests policy, like any other.
What I see is a self-report, for supporting the person. I won’t use it as evidence against them. I won’t pass it to parole, probation, a court or law enforcement, unless the person asks me to or the law requires it.
If I break this agreement, SidexSide ends my access. That ends every share with me. SidexSide may tell the people who shared with me that my access ended.
What the software enforces, whatever anyone agrees
A case-team login can reach only the case-team functions. The gateway refuses everything else.
Those functions return only six things: housing, work, income, how often the person checks in, how their plan is going, and when it was updated. Nothing is returned unless the person typed in that case worker’s share code, and only while they keep sharing.
A case team can’t message a member, ask for more, or see a name, message, mood, journal, post, or whether someone uses the app.
Each person has a different record code for each case worker. A case worker’s own reference for a record must be a case number, never a name.
